Every cozy dog cave bed has a story. Ours begins in New York City with a Jack Russell Terrier named Kona, who loved nothing more than burrowing under the covers at night. Today, the bed he inspired, the patented KONA CAVE® Snuggle Cave Bed, is making its way back to America.
When our founder, Kristen Geldermann, a former Ralph Lauren executive, moved from New York to Germany, Kona, of course, came along. He loved his new home, but there was one rule he didn't: no more sleeping in the people bed, tucked under the covers.
Kristen searched everywhere for a dog bed that gave Kona the cozy, covered den he craved and was beautiful enough to stay out when guests came for dinner. She couldn't find one. So she drew on her years in luxury design and created it herself.
That bed became the original KONA CAVE® Snuggle Cave Bed, now patented in the USA, Canada, the UK and Europe, and featured in publications from ELLE to Homes & Gardens and Design Milk.
Dogs are natural den animals. Curling up under a cover makes them feel warm, protected and calm, which is why so many dogs dive under blankets, pillows or the sofa throw. Burrowers like Dachshunds, Jack Russell Terriers, French Bulldogs, Whippets and Huskies feel this instinct especially strongly.
